Continual learning aims to bridge the gap between typical human and machine-learning environments. The continual setting does not have separate training and testing phases; instead, models are evaluated online as they learn novel concepts and tasks. The most capable current AI systems struggle to learn new knowledge sequentially without forgetting old knowledge. In this talk, Richard Zemel will describe recent progress as well as open issues and challenges in this area. Zemel will be hosted by John Lafferty.

WTI Inspiring Speaker Series
The Wu Tsai Institute's Inspiring Speaker Series features an interdisciplinary lineup of speakers whose work reshapes how we understand the mind and brain.
