Adaptive attention: How uncertainty governs the use of prior knowledge

Current Works in Human Neuroscience: Monica S. Castelhano

Monday, October 12, 2026

4:00 - 5:15 pm

100 College Street
Floor 11, Workshop 1116

Prior knowledge and scene context are crucial in guiding attention and shaping visual search behavior by generating predictions about likely object locations. However, the influence of uncertainty about the prior knowledge or the current situation affects how these predictions are applied. Here, Castelhano will explore the interplay between uncertainty, context, and attentional control and highlight how application of high-level knowledge changes over time.
