In this talk, Katja Brose provides an overview of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Science and its strategy to support the basic science and technology that will make it possible to cure, prevent, and manage all diseases by the end of the century. Specifically, the presentation focuses on CZI’s efforts in neuroscience and how they are building new models for collaboration and innovation. Brose will also share her career trajectory from research scientist to journal editor to science philanthropy along with personal reflections on the field and its future.

Brose will be hosted by Pietro De Camilli (Neuroscience, Cell Biology).

Brose leads CZI's program efforts for neuroscience and neurodegenerative disease. Before joining CZI, she was part of the editorial team at Cell Press for 17 years, where from 2004-2017 she was Editor-in-Chief of Neuron and a Publishing Director at Cell Press-Elsevier.

WTI Inspiring Speaker Series

The Wu Tsai Institute presents the 2024-25 Inspiring Speaker Series.

The Institute’s new signature series features an interdisciplinary lineup of speakers studying the mind and brain from different angles, including perspectives from beyond academia. These speakers were selected for their ability to bridge and communicate across disciplines with state-of-the-art research and ideas relevant to the entire Wu Tsai Community.

Talks occur on Thursdays at 4:00 pm approximately every two weeks, beginning September 2024. They take place in the Workshop on the 11th floor of the Wu Tsai Institute at 100 College Street. There will be an opportunity for questions and a reception following each talk.
