Molecular mechanisms of wasabi receptor, TRPA1 (dys)regulation
A major goal of the Paulsen laboratory is to understand mechanisms of (dys)regulation of the wasabi receptor, TRPa1 by small molecules, proteins, and novel gain-of-function mutations that have been associated with pronounced pain phenotypes in the human population. Our interest in understanding how regulation of this important channel contributes to pain perception and local inflammation is in line with the Wu Tsai Institute’s established interests in human cognition.

Biography
Candie Paulsen received her Bachelor's degree in 2006 from Purdue University in Genetic Biology with a minor in Philosophy and her Doctoral degree in 2011 from the University of Michigan in Chemical Biology. She started her lab at Yale in the department of Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry in 2018. Her partner Mike is a software engineer at Cisco, and they share an awesome cat named Grover.
