Lila Davachi, PhD

Professor, Department of Psychology, Columbia University

Lila Davachi is a cognitive neuroscientist studying the online and offline transformation of experiences into long-term memories and structured knowledge and how this knowledge influences new learning.

Davachi will present research providing evidence that offline states provide a unique time window to view the inner workings of the human brain, prioritizing aspects of recent experience for consolidation. This work has revealed that post-encoding memory consolidation processes are flexible and adaptive in supporting the separation or integration of new experiences in hippocampal-cortical networks.
